In a marked contrast to recent years there was no official switching on of the street lighting and no fireworks</P> <P>Also in sharp contrast, the high street shops stayed open for late night shopping. Unfortunately, despite the dry cold weather it was not a good turnout as the photographs illustrate. At least it allowed a clear view to record the decorations in Swan Walk.
