The bell tower on top of the Clockhouse in Blackbridge Lane underwent extensive renovation in the Spring of 2007. At the time Hidden Horsham were given extensive access to the work and the replacement operation which resulted in a feature being updated. Close-up photos of the bell and tower were taken and added to the feature
At the same time as the bell tower was being replaced the clockface was taken down and sent away for renovation. Some 18 months later, on the 12th of September 2007, it was replaced. The photographic detail confirms that the renovation reflects the original design of the face which sits in the vertical face of the tympanum section of the roof overlookng Blackhorse Way. The traditional gold Roman numerals, complete with the 'incorrect' IIII instead of IV, are set against a black background
Unfortunately the clock mechanism is no longer working and was not repaired as part of the renovation works. It is still in place within the central loft of the building. There is no connection between the mechanism and the hands which are set to 5:45. The clapper mechanism is not connected to the clock mechanism either
