The Italian invasion of Horsham took place again this Easter much to the delight of the residents. The incoming market was complemented by a number of Horsham shops joining in with the Italian flavour of the festival

The weather was not as kind as in 2007 when the Piazza Italia first took place but it did stay dry throughout the day. Visitors in 2008 wrapped up warm against the cold wind and came out to enjoy the produce and events on offer

On Good Friday, in a slightly different format to last year the Ferrari parade was in East Street giving an idea of how the town will be when East Street is pedestrianised. Market Square was occupied by the Ducati motorcycle display

Trade was brisk in the Carfax where a wide range of genuine Italian produce was available to try and buy. A Venetian gondolier and wedding guest provided street entertainment together with some Italian themed bands. Scalectrix were on hand with Ferrari cars to test drive around the track

To mark the reason for the bank holiday there was an Easter Parade and service held in the Carfax on Good Friday, this was lead by Horsham Churches Together

Look out for next year's event to be held at Easter 2009, 10th & 11th of April. One new addition to the line-up may feature the Mini car to celebrate 40 years since the Italian Job was on the cinema screen. A direct link between Horsham and this film is that the star, Sir Michael Caine, had his first acting role in the Carfax Theatre
