The earliest reference that Hidden Horsham has is to one printed in 1909, this is referred to in the 1974 guide. The guides tend to follow a similar format. They are funded by advertising (which in itself has great historical interest), and contain information and photographs relevant to the town and the neighbouring villages. A short history usually follows the introduction

As well as a short biography of Horsham and the villages in the district (borough in early editions) the guides often contain a fold-out map showing the streets of the main town area. Of course this serves to map the development of the town. Lists of doctors, dentists, hospitals and educational facilities have been included in many of the guides

One piece of information missing from many of the guides is a definitive date. Perhaps this is so that the guide can remain on a shop shelf for more than a year before becoming out of date. The publication year can often be determined from clues within the content and this is a challenge to Hidden Horsham each time another guide is obtained. With each of the guides shown on this feature, and used to inform other features within the site, is the means by which the date was determined

In the computer age there is not a printed guide issued by the council any more. The Horsham council website is the best place to find information previously printed in the guide. Another website, Visit Horsham, has also been created by the town's traders with the intention of bringing the shoppers to Horsham'. There is also an online guide in the format used by the printed guides and this can be viewed as shown in the external links below

1974

1977 - 81

1985

Hidden Horsham is always keen to expand its collection of Town Guides.
