Hidden Horsham - St Leonard's Forest Dragon

The St Leonard's Forest Dragon is located in Horsham Park between the Park House and Pavillions Sports Centre

Although this area was redeveloped as a millenium project it was not finished until May 2001 as the plaque shown in the thumbnail below confirms. The dragon was created by Hannah Holmes and has been placed in the centre of a maze. The hedging is now sufficiently developed to make it a challlenge to get to the middle

The maze and its paths are bordered with locally sourced bricks that have been sponsored by residents. A name and date are on each one. Unfortunately the location of each brick was never documented and so it is a question of searching

Around the maze are a number of features sponsored by local firms and groups. The nest of dragons eggs are of a scale that would make the dragon's eyes water! Also there are notices giving information on the legends surrounding St Leonard, the eponymous forest and the dragon
