Hidden Horsham - Anchor Inn

Hidden Horsham, Anchor Inn

Anchor Inn

This is the view above The Information Shop at 16 East Street showing the former Anchor Inn. The anchor and chain have been carefully painted to highlight them but the origin is unknown to Hidden Horsham although one text refers to a building in East Street being a 'tap' to the Anchor Hotel in Market Square. The building is dated 1898

The image below shows East Street as it looked in 1955. The photographer was standing where the junction by Middle Street and Market Square, with the Old Town Hall to the right

In 1840 the Anchor Tap was managed by Richard Charman and his wife Sarah
