Hidden Horsham - Co-op Store

East Street Co-op

Cupola above Strada

This site in East Street was once the home of a Co-op store. More recently it was divided into a number of stores including the Salvation Army shop. The building looks very ornate and so was possibly not originally built as a Co-op. In its latest carnation it is the Italian restuarant Strada

The tiling and cupola do not appear in photographs dated 1904 & 1906 but has appeared in the 1960 image below. Hidden Horsham would like to know when the buidling was modified or rebuilt to its current condition, please contact us if you can help

In the autumn of 2006 the building underwent renovations and opened for business in June 2007. During the renovation work Hidden Horsham was given access to photograph the building features, as shown below. The skylight window and the rear view of the building can be seen as can the roof timbers and a view into the cellar or basement

The property was marketed by Crickmay and the sales document is available to download from their site. For posterity a copy is available here

The image below shows East Street in the 1960s. The photographer is standing at the junction with Denne Road. The building above is half down on the right hand side
